Senior Property Commercial Underwriter needed for an Insurance Carrier located in Spokane, WA – Remote Hybrid!

• HOURS : Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm (flexibility offered)
• DURATION : Direct Hire
• WORKPLACE : Hybrid schedule! (Remote days on Tuesdays and Thursdays)
• PAY : $75,000 - $125,000 per year, depending on experience.
• To qualify for $110k, plus, the qualified candidate must have a minimum of 10 years’ recent experience working as a Senior Commercial Property Underwriter and extensive experience working with Habitational risks.

• Job Duties will include, but are not limited to: This position operates as a senior technical underwriter responsible for the evaluation of small to middle market risks within a defined business territory.
• This position reviews individual submissions for Commercial lines to evaluate risk attributes, pricing and business fit within company guidelines and policies.
• This position is responsible for building strong agency relationships to develop new business opportunities; retain a strong renewal book of business and manage the overall book to profitability metrics.
• The Underwriter is assigned to work with the top tier and middle tier of carrier agents and is responsible for production, relationship management and service.
• This position represents a senior technical level of underwriting authority and is capable of the evaluation of more complex and sophisticated commercial risks within the region.
• The Underwriter is expected to make regular production calls and develop new business production.
• Must adhere to underwriting guidelines for service and authority.
• May be directed to perform other underwriting duties including quality control, mentoring, territory analysis, and agency training.

• Requirements: Underwriting principles, procedures, rules and regulations.
• Rating plans (ISO or similar) and commercial lines coverages.
• Knowledge of social, economic and competitive aspects of territory assigned.
• National and local business conditions and trends.
• Underwriting and marketing philosophy and procedure.
• College degree (or equivalent experience) and preferably ten plus years of experience writing small to medium sized small business and middle market risks as a commercial line’s underwriter.
• Completion of technical insurance coursework preferred, such as CPCU, AU, ARM, CRM or CIC.
