The Pediatrician provides primary care medical services to pediatric patients at Alivio Medical Center. The physician is directly responsible for performing and recording patient health history, patient examination and diagnosis, recommendations of medical treatment, rendering of on-site treatment and hospitalization services as necessary. The physician is also responsible for appropriate documentation in the patient chart. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manages patient medical care including performing physical examinations, providing clinical diagnosis, treatment, referrals and follow-up consistent with clinical guidelines. Maintains appropriate documentation in patient clinical records in accordance with Alivio charting policies. Participates in Alivio Medical Center’s quality improvement activities and clinical committees as assigned Maintains weekly office hours as negotiated in Principles of Practice including evening and Saturday hours, as required. Participates in continuing medical education to meet requirements for licensure and Board Certification. Participates in team conferences, health education, staff meetings, and committees as needed. Takes call for health center patients as assigned by clinical leadership. Assists in marketing and public relations, as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned This position requires compliance with all of Alivio’s written standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Joint Commission standards, all policies and procedures and Corporate Compliance requirements. Compliance will be considered as part of the regular performance evaluation. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manages and supervises staff listed below, including hiring, training, evaluating and managing performance to meet departmental efficiency and performance measures in keeping with the Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Personnel Policies and Procedures and prevailing employment laws as appropriate. None KEY INTERRELATIONSHIPS Clinical Leadership Medical Assistants & Nurses WORKING CONDITIONS OSHA Category 1 – Involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate of Accredited medical school with degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy. Completion of accredited pediatric residency program. Certification or Licensure: Board certification by the American Academy of Pediatrics or board-eligible (within the initial allowable period of time post-graduation). Unrestricted license to practice in the State of Illinois. Current DEA license. Experience: Three to five years experience in a community health center setting, preferred. Knowledge of electronic medical records, managed care, and billing and coding procedures.
