As a Child Life Specialist, you will play an essential role in the healthcare team, providing vital emotional, social, and developmental support to pediatric patients during their challenging times. Position Highlights: Department: Same Day Surgery Sign-On Bonus: $5,000 Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Friday from 6 AM - 2:30 PM, including 3-4 weekends and 1-2 holidays per year Starting Pay: $21.89+ Location: Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital - STL Our mission prioritizes patient care, fostering a collaborative environment where your contributions are valued. Job Summary: Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive social, emotional, and developmental support for pediatric patients dealing with illness and hospitalization. Key Responsibilities: Prepare patients and families for anxiety-inducing tests or procedures using engaging materials and play-based education. Create a nurturing and safe environment for our young patients and their families. Work closely with healthcare professionals to plan appropriate interventions tailored to each child’s needs. Participate in outreach and education activities to promote awareness and understanding of children's health issues. Be a resource for families and the health care team regarding child development, behavioral issues, and compliance. Maintain a proactive and safe working environment. Perform additional duties as assigned. Education and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Human Development, or a related field is required. No prior experience necessary, making this an ideal opportunity for recent graduates. Physical Requirements: Frequent reaching, sitting, standing, and walking. Regular use of vision for near and far distances. Effective communication skills to engage with children and families. Ability to lift and carry objects up to 25 lbs occasionally. Certifications Required: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) by the American Heart Association (AHA). Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) from the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP).
