Position: Linguist II (Hindi Language)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a Linguist II to support the development of language components for various voice-enabled technologies and products. The ideal candidate will have native or near-native fluency in Hindi, strong linguistic data analysis skills, and experience in language technology. This role involves managing data collection, LLM-powered data synthesis, data annotation tasks, prompt engineering, localization, and quality evaluations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide linguistic expertise in syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and sociolinguistics.
• Collaborate with linguists and data operations teams on data collection, curation, translation, localization, and annotation efforts.
• Evaluate and curate datasets for machine learning models using LLM solutions.
• Assess model and data quality.
• Perform prompt engineering tasks.
• Develop complex and consistent linguistic analyses collaboratively.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Speech Science, or a related field.
• Native or near-native fluency in Hindi.
• Awareness of Indian languages and their linguistic, cultural, and local nuances.
• Knowledge of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and corpus linguistics.
• Experience working with speech and text data in multiple languages.
• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and their applications.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with database queries and data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, spreadsheets, R, Unix).

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in Linguistics, Romance Languages, Computational Linguistics, Speech Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks, NLP libraries, and tools

Pay Range: $40 - $60

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
