Description:

Lucas Systems is seeking an experienced Director of IT to oversee all internal systems, advance the design and management of the organization’s cloud architecture, and support external customers with IT expertise throughout the sales, development, and support process.

This position is available in the Wexford, PA office and designated as on-site, requiring attendance in the office Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, secure, and support all internal computer networks and systems (U.S. and U.K.), including hands-on advanced troubleshooting of software, servers, VPNs, routers, rugged mobile devices, and other physical hardware, while maintaining a focus on cybersecurity, compliance, and risk mitigation.
• Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and automated cloud and on-premise virtualization environments, including infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices.
• Lead the cybersecurity and information security programs, including policy development, threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR).
• Serve as InfoSec liaison for customer audits, security questionnaires, and technical due diligence.
• Architect and maintain secure, compliant, and resilient cloud-based server environments (Azure, AWS) for Lucas SaaS offerings.
• Collaborate with customer IT teams to define and validate infrastructure and security requirements for Lucas’ solutions deployed in customer environments.
• Lead and mentor the IT team, fostering a culture of security-first thinking, automation, and continuous improvement.
• Manage external IT vendors and negotiate optimal pricing and service levels in alignment with security and compliance goals.
• Continuously assess and mitigate technology risks, ensuring robust backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
• Maintain and enhance internal communication and collaboration tools, including secure conferencing and audiovisual systems.
• Budgeting process for IT expenditures, including forecasting, procurement planning, and cost optimization strategies.

Requirements:

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in technical or business discipline
• 10+ years of experience; 5 years in an IT leadership role, ideally in a software company
• Proven experience in cybersecurity, information security, and compliance frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to lead incident response and security operations
• Direct experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS) and infrastructure automation tools; Experience implementing and supporting SaaS or IaaS in Azure or AWS
• Strong knowledge of Windows-based and Linux-based system administration, networking, and security hardening
• Proficiency with wireless network troubleshooting and design
• Ability to effectively communicate and inspire confidence in customer interactions regarding technical architecture and infrastructure requirements, particularly with enterprise IT and security teams
• Proven ability to remain hands-on with technology and infrastructure while managing strategic initiatives
• Experience managing and mentoring IT teams
• Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Microsoft or network certifications
• Exposure to Atlassian products
• Experience with Android-based mobile device management and rugged device deployments
