We at Bohemia Interactive Simulations are a well-established company specializing in the development of world-leading, game-based military simulations for major NATO powers and their allies. Our mission is to advance the industry by leveraging the latest technologies and trends, including whole-world simulation, virtual reality, motion tracking, and AI.

Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of IT to lead global IT operations for our 450-person, geographically distributed software product company. The Director of IT is responsible for delivering a secure, scalable IT environment that supports our engineering, operational, and business needswhile ensuring full compliance with U.S. government IT policies and cybersecurity standards. The role reports to the BISim COO.

Key Responsibilities

IT Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and manage a global IT roadmap aligned with BISims goals and regulatory environment.
• Advise senior leadership on technology trends, cyber risk, and systems modernization.
• Oversee the IT budget, vendor management, and strategic sourcing initiatives.

Infrastructure & Enterprise Systems

• Lead operations for cloud infrastructure, SaaS tools, endpoint management, and internal networks.
• Optimize performance and security across systems like Jira, Confluence, M365, Google Workspace, Zoom, and Git.
• Implement scalable processes for provisioning, monitoring, and access control in a remote-first environment.

Security & Compliance

• Establish and maintain IT policies and practices aligned with NIST 800-171, CMMC, DFARS, and other relevant standards.
• Manage security controls for cloud-based and on-premises environments.
• Manage cyber hygiene practices including vulnerability management, incident response, endpoint security, and logging.
• Partner with Legal and Operations on risk assessments, audits, and the handling of controlled unclassified information (CUI).
• Advisor to executive leadership on IT security risks and strategies.

IT Support & Service Delivery

• Oversee a global helpdesk team and implement SLA-driven, customer-focused support practices.
• Streamline onboarding, offboarding, and IT lifecycle processes using automation where possible.
• Ensure around-the-clock IT support coverage for global teams when needed.

Team Leadership

• Lead and grow a distributed IT team with clear roles, goals, and performance expectations.
• Promote a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
• Support team training and certification aligned with BISims evolving needs.

Objectives

• Build and execute a global IT strategy that supports growth, remote collaboration, and operational excellence.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. government cybersecurity and IT requirements, including NIST 800-171, DFARS 252.204-7012, CMMC 2.0 and other applicable DoD cybersecurity regulations .
• Maintain secure, highly available infrastructure and enterprise systems across all global locations.
• Foster a responsive, service-oriented IT culture focused on security, reliability, and user support.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, including managing infrastructure, cybersecurity, and user support.
• Strong familiarity with U.S. government IT requirements, including NIST 800-171, CMMC, and DFARS.
• Proven experience managing IT operations in a global, distributed software or tech organization.
• Strong command of enterprise SaaS tools, cloud infrastructure, and secure endpoint management.
• Understanding of modern DevOps practices and adjacent practices such as DevEx, DevSecOps and SRE
• Thorough understanding of modern software engineering practices
• Excellent communication, leadership, and vendor management skills.
• Must be able to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a U.S. defense or federal contractor environment.
• Knowledge of CUI and Classified data handling, FIPS 140-2, and FedRAMP-authorized platforms.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or PMP are a plus.
• Experience supporting secure software development or DevSecOps teams.
