Manufacturing Buyer Planner – Aerospace Manufacturing

Contract Position (Onsite)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Manufacturing Buyer Planner to support our client's production operations within the aerospace sector. This critical role will focus on procurement, production planning, and outside processing management to ensure the timely and efficient flow of materials and components across the manufacturing process.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in supply chain, purchasing, and planning—particularly within a manufacturing environment—and will be adept at using SAP S/4HANA and other manufacturing execution systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Purchasing:

• Source and purchase raw materials, components, and services to support production schedules.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
• Ensure the timely acquisition of parts and materials and proactively drive outcomes.

Production Planning:

• Develop and maintain production plans aligned with demand forecasts and inventory targets.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
• Optimize inventory levels to balance cost, availability, and production efficiency.

Outside Processing Management:

• Manage relationships with outside processing vendors (e.g., heat treating, coating, machining).
• Schedule and track outsourced operations to ensure timely return of processed parts.
• Ensure quality and compliance with specifications for all outsourced work.
• Coordinate acquisition activities with internal and external suppliers and materials personnel.

System Expertise:

• Utilize SAP S/4HANA (MM and PP modules) for procurement, planning, inventory management, and reporting.
• Operate within the Material Management module to manage traceability, part status, and logistics.
• Maintain accurate master data, purchase orders, and production schedules in both systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a material/parts or manufacturing environment in a Buyer, Planner, or Supply Chain role.
• 3 years of combined experience in planning and/or procurement.
• Experience using SAP S/4HANA (MM and/or PP modules).
• Experience with EmpowerMX – Material Management module is a strong asset.
• Solid understanding of supply chain fundamentals.
• Demonstrated experience in raw material procurement, outside processing vendor management, production planning, MRP, and inventory control.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Planning and organizational skills to manage priorities in a multi-project setting.
• Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of the aerospace/aviation industry.
• Exposure to continuous improvement programs.
• Ability to represent the department in cross-functional settings and influence stakeholders.
