Job Description
The ASC Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the patient care delivered by nursing/auxiliary personnel, monitoring workflow and adjusts assignments to ensure optimum workflow outcomes, collaborates with all members of the healthcare team to anticipate needs, problems and crises before they occur.
*Job Relationships*
Reports to the ASC Nurse Manager-Operative Services
*Principal Responsibilities*
* Plan staffing assignments including arrival times.
* Delegate patient care appropriately.
* Plan, prioritize, organize, and direct the work of others.
* Assure break and lunch requirements are met.
* Participate in performance reviews.
* Assume role of staff personnel when needed.
* Stay knowledgeable on equipment to ensure equipment maintains optimum performance.
* Communicate with other coordinators, physicians and anesthesia to ensure on-time delivery of the surgery schedule.
* Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures including participating in Root Cause Analyses, corrective action plans or any other actions as directed by leadership.
* Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
* Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
* Facilitate communication of Infection Control/Quality Management/Education/Leadership updates
* Maintain working knowledge and operational implementation of federal, state, and local regulatory & accreditation requirements.
* Can cover other clinical areas, as needed.
* Perform other job duties as assigned.
*Education/Experience*
* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
* Minimum five (5) years of experience in nursing profession, including two (2) years in the pertinent clinical specialty.
*Licenses/Certificates*
* Licensed as RN in the State of Illinois.
* CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
* GI Coordinator - ACLS required within first 90 days of employment.
* ARD-GI Coordinator - ACLS required within first 90 days of employment.
* Pain Coordinator – ACLS required within first 90 days of employment.
* OR and ARD-OR Coordinator - PALS and ACLS required within first 90 days of employment.

* Must possess manual dexterity to handle equipment and appliances.
* Must maintain professional behavior.
* Must maintain good physical health.
* Must have the ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment.
* Must be able to adjust to various personalities and situations.
* Must be capable of stooping, bending, and lifting.
* Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
* Must appear well groomed.
*Working Environment*
* Conditions include potential exposure to blood and body fluids, tissue and contagious diseases and/or potentially hazardous materials.
* Occasional heavy lifting required.
